This floor mat was made for a 9 year old disabled child with visual impairment. The customer asked me to incorporate some crinkle elements, so the green triangles have space blanket sewn between their layers. I have used some sparkly fabrics as these can be noticed by the visually impaired. As the family home has veneered flooring, I was asked to add some non-slip corner patches. The personalised letters are made from glitter cotton that has a rough feel to provide strong feedback and makes a scratchy sound when gently rubbed. The bright pink fabric is Shannon's supersoft dimple plush which adds textural interest.
